The Judicial Conference of the United States has authorized the appointment of a full-time United States magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana at Evansville, effective upon Magistrate Judge William G. Hussmann, Jr.'s, retirement on January 31, 2016. Attached below is the full public notice.

The Local Rules Advisory Committee for the Southern District of Indiana has recommended, and the District Court has authorized release for a period of public comment through June 22, 2015, the revision of certain Local Rules. For more information, please see the attached Notice.

The United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana announced on January 21, 2015 that it has selected New Albany attorney Van T. Willis to serve as a part-time Magistrate Judge. Full details are included in the press release below.
Join the agencies that comprise the federal court family on Friday, February 13, for their annual Black History Month celebration. This year, Dr. Jakobi Williams, Associate Professor of History at Indiana University-Bloomington, will explore the complex history of the Black Panther Party. This free event will offer one of CLE credit for attorneys (pending approval). Pre-registration is NOT required. Also note that Professor Williams will be selling and signing copies of his book, From the Bullet to the Ballot: The Illinois Chapter of the Black Panther Party and Racial Coalition Politics in Chicago, after the event. Books are $25 each and can be purchased via cash or check.
