In 2011, Marcia M. Anderson made history as she became the first African American woman to achieve the rank of Major General in the United States Army. General Anderson retired from the U.S. Army Reserve in 2016 after 36 years of service; also an attorney, she has spent over 25 years as the clerk of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Wisconsin. Her accomplishments make General Anderson the ideal speaker for the federal court family’s annual Black History Month event.

On Thursday, February 14, 2018, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana will host General Anderson as she presents “Black Migrations: The Impact on Society and Social Justice in America.” This free event will begin at 2:00 pm in the William E. Steckler Ceremonial Courtroom (courtroom 202) at the Birch Bayh Federal Building and United States Courthouse, 46 East Ohio Street, Indianapolis, Indiana.
