Magistrate Judge Denise K.
Denise K. LaRue was appointed U. S. Magistrate Judge on May 24, 2011. She fills a new magistrate judge position created for the Southern District of Indiana by the Judicial Conference of the United States.
Prior to her appointment, Magistrate Judge LaRue was a partner with Haskin & LaRue, where she has practiced law since 1994. Prior to her employment with what is now Haskin & LaRue, she worked as a staff attorney at the Indiana Civil Rights Commission.
Judge LaRue has extensive experience in employment-related litigation, involving discrimination and retaliation claims under Title VII; the Americans with Disabilities Act; the Family and Medical Leave Act; and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act. While in private practice, she also handled claims asserting various constitutional violations of due process rights, free speech, and political association violations; wage and hour violations; and claims under an array of federal labor acts.
Judge LaRue was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and is a 1989 cum laude graduate of the Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis. She received her B.S. in Public Personnel-Labor Relations from Indiana University – Bloomington in 1980. She is a Life Member of the Marion County Bar Association and a Master with the Indianapolis American Inn of Court.
