Walker Whatley v. Daniel Bates, 1:15-1450-RLY-TAB

Mr. Whatley filed a civil rights lawsuit alleging that while he was in the Marion County Jail, the defendant, Deputy Daniel Bates, placed him in a wristlock and pulled him from the top bunk to the floor. This caused Mr. Whatley to hit his head.  While on the floor, Bates put him in a chokehold with his knee planted in Mr. Whatley's back. Mr. Whatley alleges he was subjected to excessive force.
