Naturalization Ceremonies:

Ceremonies for the Southern District of Indiana are held twice per month at the United States Courthouse, 46 East Ohio Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204. Special ceremonies may be held at other locations, as well.

  • Time and Duration
Ceremonies start at 10:00 A.M. (citizens will receive a letter which states the time to appear at court -- usually one hour before the ceremony begins. This is necessary in order for the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services staff to process final paperwork). The average length of a ceremony is approximately two hours -- about one hour is used to process paperwork, and another hour for the ceremony itself.

  • Parking
Public parking is NOT available at the United States Courthouse. Several parking garages are located nearby. Parking meters are available within walking distance, with a  2-hour time limit (please check the meter instructions. Parking before 9:00 A.M. is not allowed at some meters). Check
Maps, Directions, & Travel Resources for more information.

  • Handicapped-Accessible Entrance
Located on the northeast corner of the United States Courthouse, at Pennsylvania and New York Streets.

  • If You Cannot Attend
Please do NOT contact the United States District Court Clerk’s Office if you cannot attend the ceremony. You must return the Notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony (Form N-445) to the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services, Gateway Plaza, Suite 400, 950 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis IN 46204, with a letter explaining the need to cancel. Immigration Services will then reschedule your Naturalization Ceremony for a later date.
